SlickLogin join Google: replace passwords with sounds

SlickLogin joins Google

Google very soon replace passwords with sounds after acquiring Israeli startup and verification app SlickLogin. The app works by listening to unique 'songs' generated when people log in to their online accounts on computers and laptops.

How the app works:

Users can click a SlickLogin button on websites to generate a unique ‘song’.The song is played through the speakers of a computer or laptop. The SlickLogin app then listens to this song and verifies the user’s identity. This song is inaudible to human ears, and can only be picked up by the phone's built-in microphone. It can be used to replace passwords, or as part of a two-step authentication process.SlickLogin announced the acquisition on its website but did not disclose how much the deal was worth.

Google may be looking to add the SlickLogin technology to future versions of its Android software, for example.Google already lets its users enable two-step verification for their online accounts, and offers Face Unlock on Android. With Face Unlock, Android users can use their face to unlock their smartphone or tablet, in place of a PIN or a pattern.

Twitter redesign its website, looks similar to Facebook

Twitter redesign its website

Twitter is working on  redesign of its webpage that  look like the social media website Facebook. The all new profile page of Twitter has  photo and biography placed well to the left side of the page, giving a lot of space to the header photo.

However, Twitter's magazine-style web layout will only affect the desktop version of Twitter, making the tweets larger. Now,tweets no longer flow vertically in a single column like they do now; instead they spread out with a tile-style layout similar to what one might expect from a Pinterest or Facebook's new Paper app.

Twitter's another new feature offers pop-up notifications with fields for easy replies for direct messages sent through the platform, and similar notices for RTs and favorites, which if merged with other features, will help the social network site don a richer, more complex presentation that offers up additional information.

Windows 9 on the way, Big challenge for Satya Nadella to get Microsoft back on track

Now, Windows 9 by Microsoft

Windows 8 by Microsoft does'nt satisfy many users, becomes reason of Steve Ballmer's resignation. Windows 8 saves Microsoft only mobile,  Windows Phone remains mired with around a 4% market share in the U.S. and under 1% market share in China -- the two largest smartphone markets in the world.

It couldn't have come at a worse time, just when desktop and laptop sales have been shrinking, and tablets and smartphones taking off. Rather than stave off the decline of traditional PCs, Windows 8 helped increase it. And it did nothing to help Microsoft in mobile.

That's why there's so much riding on Windows 9, expected to be released in the middle of 2015, although at least one rumor has it arriving in October of this year.

Windows 9 will likely be the last chance for Microsoft to get on track, Big challenge for Satya Nadella, new CEO of Microsoft.

Even though development of Windows 9 is well under way, for better or worse Nadella will be judged by it. If it's a great operating system, he'll cement his power at Microsoft for years to come. But if it falters, he might not be able to survive long after it.

How to recover Whatsapp data

Recover Whatsapp Data: Messages, Images, Videos

WhatsApp is available for Android, iOS and Windows Mobile platforms and allows you to stay in touch with almost all your friends without paying anything to your service provider. One of the biggest privileges that we need from any messaging or emailing service is whether it could let you recover any of your deleted messages. And the fact that WhatsApp lets you recover deleted messages, images and videos.

So, below are two ways to recover lost Whatsapp data:

Method 1: This is a simple and pretty straightforward way to restore deleted WhatsApp stuff. All you need to do is uninstall the app and install it back. This would actually use all the backup files, and restore whatever it can.

Method 2: This app stores its backup files by the name, msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt. Below are the locations where you can find these backup files for respective OS:
Android: /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases/msgstore.db.crypt iOS: net.whatsapp.WhatsApp/Documents/ChatStorage.sqlite
Assuming that you have the backup file now, first thing that you need to do is launch a web service, Recover Messages
Click on the Select SQLite File, choose the backup file, click on I Accept (only after reading terms) and then on Scan button. It would take some time, depending on backup file size and your internet speed, and would list all the contents.
Now, click on the appropriate tab to recover the lost data.

Build your task using LEGO pieces on Google chrome

Build with Chrome

Have you ever play with LEGO pieces tasked to build a structure, whatever you intend to design?

Now the social gaint, Google brings a 3D graphic technology, collaboration with LEGO group and Google, to design same.

This technology discovered in 2012 by a team in australia as an experiment, now the Google released the program in air.

Users can build on any plot in the world across their laptop, phone or tablet. Once something has been created, it can be published on Google maps and shared with friends.

How to Begin?

To begin, users sign in with a Google+ account to find what people in their ‘circles’ have already created. A new categorisation system for completed Builds will help to sort and filter for specific types of structures.

The Build Academy, a series of short tutorials and challenges featuring characters and structures from the upcoming ‘The LEGO Movie’, allows first-time users to get familiar with the software.

A video presention on Build with chrome:

Whatsapp Vs. Facebook, is Facebook getting people now bore

Facebook Vs. Whatsapp

Facebook, the name which needs no introduction, Social gaint, it seems like every day that we are reminded that Facebook is number one.
Still, like everything else, people are starting to get bored with Facebook and want to move on to something new, especially teenagers and younger people.

While it might be a while before something grows as large as Facebook, there is one app that is quickly rising in popularity and is being described as a “Facebook” killer. The App that I am talking about is named “WhatsApp” and it recently hit 400 million users.

Aggregated download volume in all mai countries in 2012, Facebook and Whatsapp:

Whats app

WhatsApp is a messaging app which allows you to exchange messages around the world without have to pay for anything. WhatsApp is available for every platform including: iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia. WhatsApp uses the internet that you use for web browsing to send messages to your friends. In addition to being able to send basic messages, you can create groups, send each other images, video and even audio messages.

WhatsApp is growing in popularity, because it is a lot more private than what Facebook is. Privacy and control is the main reason that people are switching over to things like WhatsApp. Plus, WhatsApp doesn’t collect your data and doesn’t even have advertisements.

Since Facebook has been around for a while, people are going to start looking for a change and that change is to something that is more private where they can talk to their friends without worrying about certain people seeing their stuff, Family Members or the Boss. WhatsApp provides people with a way to share with each other PRIVATELY and wont use what they send to market things toward people.

Yahoo Hacked

Usernames and passwords of some of Yahoo’s email customers have been stolen and used to gather personal information about people those Yahoo mail users have recently corresponded with, the company said Thursday.

Yahoo didn’t say how many accounts have been affected. Yahoo is the second-largest email service worldwide, after Google’s Gmail, according to the research firm comScore. There are 273 million Yahoo mail accounts worldwide, including 81 million in the United States.

Yahoo said the usernames and passwords weren’t collected from its own systems, but from a third-party database.

Yahoo said it is resetting passwords on affected accounts and has “implemented additional measures” to block further attacks. The company would not comment beyond the information in its blog post. It said it is working with federal law enforcement.

Angry birds website hacked

Angry Birds website hacked

Angry Birds creator Rovio Entertainment Ltd says the popular game's website was defaced by hackers, two days after reports that the personal data of its customers might have been accessed by US and British spy agencies.

Reports earlier this week said that documents leaked by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden suggested the NSA and Britain's GCHQ had been able to extract information through numerous smartphone apps, including Google Maps and the Angry Birds game franchise.
Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said the personal details of customers could have been accessed from information gathered by third-party advertising agencies.

Angry Birds, an addictive birds-versus-pigs game that has been downloaded more than 1.7 billion times worldwide, is one of the latest examples of how everyday pieces of software can be turned into instruments of spying.

How to get know that your Gmail is safe from hackers or not

Gmail Security

If you have a Gmail account, you can easily check whether or not you have been hacked.
Google has provided users with tools right within the Gmail inbox that can help keep your account secured. Here’s how it works:

To check if your account has been targeted and hacked into without your knowledge, you need to log into your Gmail account using a desktop browser.

Now scroll down to the bottom of your inbox and locate a link called “Details”. When you click on it, a pop-up window will appear, and it will show you a detailed list of the last ten times you – or anyone else –has accessed your account. It will also show you not just when your account was accessed but also how it was viewed. You’ll know if the inbox was opened using an email app, browser, smartphone app and the IP address through which it was accessed.

If you see a suspicious device or IP address, you may want to change your password as soon as possible.
To strengthen the security on your Gmail account, you can even turn the two-factor authentication system on. You can store your IP addresses of the various computers and devices you use to access Gmail, in order to ensure nothing fishy is going on around your account.

How to bypass cache when loading sites

How to bypass cache when loading sites

The browser cache is a useful feature of every web browser.Contents of the website, such as the site's logo, other images or contents, are saved to disk so that they are loaded from there the next time they are requested.
This is useful as it not only reduces the bandwidth needed to display a page on the domain, but may also speed things up as no connection is necessary to download those elements to the system you are using.

While the cache is useful most of the time, it can get in your way at times as well. Say, you get a white page on Facebook whenever you load the site, or do not see changes that you have made to your website.

One common cause for these kind of issues is that contents are loaded from cache and not from the site directly.

While you can hit Ctrl-F5 to force the browser to load all contents from network or Internet servers again, it may not be practicable if you have to use that feature often.

That's where the Chrome extension Cache Killer comes into play. You can toggle Cache Killer, and when it is enabled, it will automatically clear the cache before new page loads so that contents are loaded from the server the site is hosted on, and not from the local hard drive or memory.

The extension is mostly useful for web developers who want to make sure that changes have propagated correctly on a live or test server, but it can have its uses for other users as well.
Cache Killer comes with a single option that you can turn on. If you do, it is automatically enabled on start of the browser so that you do not have to do so manually first.
